Sistema Nacional Ambiental - SINA
Law 99 of 1993, which created the Ministry of the Environment in Colombia, reorganized the public sector responsible for environmental management and conservation in Colombia. Law 99 adopted a more systemic approach in describing the general principles of environmental policy. It also created the National Environmental System (SINA), a decentralized system that articulates guidelines, regulations, and state and social actors to develop environmental policies and manage the country's natural resources.
Specifically, the SINA is the set of guidelines, regulations, activities, resources, programs and institutions that allow the implementation of the general environmental principles contained in this Law.
